Happy New Year!

Just kidding. I need new shoes! They got all ripped up the next day hahahaha.

Worn out shoes!
Not a lot to write because I just talked to you all like 4 days ago! What a wonderful opportunity it was to be able to talk to my beloved family. I will try and send pictures from last week but this Cyber isn't very good! I love my family so much. Christ came so that families could be eternal... but obedient families. Which makes me so grateful for the family that I have and the examples they have given me.

Christmas 2015

We hit our yearly goal! I'm not entirely sure exactly how many we finished with, but we got over the goal of 2060 baptisms. Brings a lot of joy to see how the hard work of the mission has paid off. It really is all worth it. That is something that I have learned on my mission. Whether it be numbers or spiritual growth or whatever it may be, it is worth it. So let us be faithful and give it our all to the Lord, so that he can repay us!

The Christmas Multi Zone was awesome. We had a good conference, ate good food, played games and then got some cool little gifts! Then we got to take some pictures and go home and sleep and that was fun.

Sunday was a good day in church! My companion and I were able to have a successful day, and we were able to sure up Carlos Moises for this Saturday. A great way to start out the new year!

I am grateful for the toughest year of my entire life. 2015. It was so hard, but so worth it. And now I am grateful to be able to start out 2016 in the mission and finish my mission the way the Lord would want me to. I pray that we can all honor the birth of the Savior in the way that he would want us to.

This week I am going to work in Bluefields! That should be dope. That is about it! I love you all. Happy New year!

This is it for today!

Hey! Last week was great! Don´t have much time but we are planning on calling Friday at around 5-6ish!

Monday, December 14, 2015

18 months!

I can´t believe Garrett (Elder Naisbitt) is home! What the freak! That is something that I literally cannot believe. He was a great friend, and I am already missing him here. Because here we are still in Nicaragua! This last week was a crazy week because it was change week! I will let you all know how it went.
Elder Naisbitt's homecoming

On Monday night we had a little dinner with the Branch President and some members in the ward, that was a lot of fun! Being the Purisima where everyone sings to Mary, President Lazo made some stress on the fact that we don´t do that in this religion. There were a bunch of converts there! That was a lot of fun.

Tuesday we found out about changes! And those that had changes were... Elder Hanson and Elder Smith. Which meant that Elder Medrano and I were going to stay here in the area with two new companions. And they are.... Elder Bradbeer and Elder Lunt! Elder Bradbeer is a brand new Zone Leader, so I am grateful to be able to train a new one. Elder Lunt has about 5 months in the mission, and he is really cool. He is a lot like me, from Gilbert. Elder Bradbeer is from Napa, Idaho. There were a lot of changes made to the Zone. The Zone is now really young and inexperienced. I am about the only one with time in my assignment. Which brings lots of pressure but excites me because that usually means people want to work. I am excited to try and help them!

Wednesday was change meeting. Said goodbye to Naisbitt and a few other great friends. That was hard. Then we headed on out to Juigalpa! I worked the whole day with Elder Lunt showing him the area and such, that was fun.

Thursday I was back working with Elder Medrano. We worked hard trying to always find new investigators and help them realize the importance of the Restoration. I love the Restoration. Ever since that day I stepped foot in the Sacred Grove. It is something undeniable. People here have a tough time understanding the Restoration, because they have a real funnel knowledge and sometimes don´t want to learn more, but we work hard to help them see the blessings that come from it. And focusing on Christ and Christmas obviously!

Friday I went to Boaco with Elder Lunt to work with some sisters. It was rough. They need some help. But that´s why we have leaders right?! Which makes me grateful for the people that I have in my life that help me change and improve the things that must be changed. Hence why there are modern day prophets today. To help us!

Saturday was a normal work day, but it was really, really hot. Like bad news bears hot.

Sunday we had a pretty good day in church, and had a couple converts show up, that was great! Because we are here to Baptize and Retain :) the Zone had a bad day. We have some things to change! The mission is hitting a wall right now, because the people get real frita here in December. I think we have already hit our goal of 2060, but President wants us to keep working, obviously! This week should be fun!

In our house we have 4 missionaries that like basketball, so this morning we got up and played some ball at 6 so we could get back for studies. It was fun! My whole entire body hurts right now, but I wasn´t too rusty :)

Love you all so much. Happy anniversary to my amazing parents tomorrow! Keep up the good work! Go Braves.

Was it, cold here?

The answer would be no. We just thought it was for a minute. This week was awesome! Went by unbelievably fast, but we worked really hard! Congrats to Annie on the W and the good work. Let´s talk about last week!

Tuesday was normal, just preparing for Wednesday, which was Leadership Council!

Wednesday we had Consejo! Our goal for the year was 2060 baptisms, we have 2037 right now.. gettin close! I think we hit it this last week but the APs wouldn´t tell me hahaha. December is always really tough because the people party really hard, drinking and all that crap. This place professes to be very Christlike, but sometimes they just forget during the most important time of the year. But more of that later! This was the last Consejo for Elder Naisbitt and a bunch of other friends that I have made on the mission! That was crazy. We had a good time. President talked about hashtag HaNacidoUnSalvador and the APs talked about how to contact better. It was fun. The Zone is improving. Elder Hanson and I then had the horrible trip back to Juigalpa, and didn´t get back until right before 9!
Mission Leadership Council
Thursday Elder Hanson and I worked together because our companions were sick, then prepared Zone Meeting. We worked really hard, because we had a lot of crap to get done. Elder Hanson and I teach really similar, so it is fun to work with him, and we work really hard! We had a really spiritual lesson with Rolando, teaching about the Fall. The Spirit guided us to teach about how the Fall helps us to repent, which brings happiness! I learned that on Thursday. I had never looked at the Fall from that point of view, because we don´t really teach the Plan of Salvation that much here. Then we got everything ready for Zone Meeting!

Elder Merrill and Elder Hanson
Friday was Zone Meeting, and that went well! We talked a lot about seeing how much we love the Lord, because we have some missionaries right now that don´t really want to work. The more we love the Lord, the more we will work. Missionary service all comes down to our love of the Lord. If we love the Lord, then we will throw everything behind and focus on the Lord. Like one of my favorites, Peter. He was challenged by the Lord! Then Elder Hanson and I went getting to know some investigators from the Zone. That was fun.

Saturday we felt like it was cold so we left the house with jackets and long sleeve shirts. We were wrong. It was about 80 degrees but felt cold. That is Nicaragua. Then it got really hot again! Saturday was a normal work day.
Eighty Degrees!
Sunday we didn´t have a lot of success getting people to church, but had a bunch of investigators go to the First Presidency´s Christmas Devotional. That was fun!

That is about it for this week. Today is December 7th, the day of Purisima! When everyone sings to a shrine of The Virgin Mary for treats. It is so weird. Sometimes I don´t understand these people hahaha. We will see how it goes! Love you all so much! Keep up the good work and remember why a Savior was Born!

Love,
Elder Merrill

Modern Day Revelation

Common sense is less common here than the belief of modern day revelation. And no one can conceive the thought of modern day revelation. Hahahahah people just aren´t entirely street smart here, but I love them with of my heart, because they are so kind. This week went by super fast. Let´s see if I can describe it.

Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday were basically all the same! This is another really tough area, so we have been working super hard to find positive people! I can honestly say that this has been the hardest working week of my mission, and for that we are proud! There is just a little desafio here, the people don´t understand some things! Nicaraguans are very scared of commitments. Don´t ask me why, but that is just how they are. They don´t want to commit to anything! Like I have said before, they are all Christian, but they are very caught up in their traditions and sometimes don´t understand basic doctrine! Por ejemplo, commandments. I have asked many people what a commandment is, and they respond saying, "no le podria decir," which means "I couldn´t tell ya." Nor do they understand how to really pray, because all they do is  memorized prayers. And something like modern day revelation?? Hahahahaha. Good luck. No but the good thing is that they have the basics! So we have needed to really simplify our teachings, so that they can understand a little better. We have gotten a lot of people to commit, but then they forget. This last week, however, we were able to have a pretty decent week at church!

Thursday was Thanksgiving! Lol. Bad news bears. As a Zone, we had a little Thanksgiving lunch, but it was pretty dumb. We had Pizza and Soda. I might be the most boring Zone Leader in the entire world. But who cares, we need to work hahahaha. Then Franklin came down and we had a quick little dinner at about 4 o´clock! He took us to a really nice restaurant and we got to eat! I had chicken cordon bleu. Really good. That was it for Thanksgiving! I remembered how grateful I am for the Gospel. It has blessed me so much.
Thanksgiving with Franklin
I am grateful for my family! I love each and every one of them so much. I am grateful for my friends! And I am grateful for the people I have been able to work with here on the mission. I love this work!

That is about it. This week we have Consejo, and we are starting the last month of the year. Here comes the pressure to hit our goal! Love you all!

Lifting up a zone

Good luck to the Aggies this week at Duke. That should be fun! This last week was a lot of fun, with lots of hard work! Super sad for Annie. Didn´t the same thing happen to Liz back in the day? But I guess that is cool that she is in the dances. I have always loved the Pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Dinner! Remember when Wild Bill came? That was fun hahaha. But anyways, let´s get onto the work from this last week!

Nicaraguan ID
Tuesday and Wednesday were lame. Tuesday was a really successful day for Elder Medrano and I, and Wednesday was a really good day for Elder Hanson and Smith! I told you guys about Adolfo and Dany, who were our investigators preparing for baptism last Saturday. On Tuesday they passed their interviews, but it was still a little up in the air.

Thursday, we had interviews with President Russell! We have these normally every three months, so it was weird to see how fast these last few months have gone. It was a really long day, because Elder Hanson and I have to overview everything. We start out going in with President and telling him what to look for in the Zone, and reviewing everyone´s goals. Then all the missionaries talk to him! My personal interview was great, talking about how to help this Zone and how to efficiently contact. I have worked really hard this last year, but really without a lot of success. We could say that it is the Lord´s will, which it may be, but that is a conformist attitude and keeps us from working. That is what I love about what we do here. We are constantly looking for ways to improve, knowing that the Lord WANTS US TO HAVE SUCCESS.  So we talked a little bit about that and some other desafios in the Zone. Then Elder Hanson and I go in one last time to review the day. President talked about the Zone is doing well, and we are doing a good job trying to change the attitude and make it into a winner.

Friday I went out to Boaco, La Ciudad de Dos Pisos. It has a ton of hills! We just went to do District Meeting for the sisters. I taught about the importance of verification. Extremely important here ahahaha because people here don´t really have great priorities. Then Elder Smith and I ate a hamburger, interviewed a little kid for baptism and went back to Juigalpa.

Saturday was our baptisms! Well, they were supposed to be at least. We passed by in the morning and little Dany was good, as well as Adolfo! In the afternoon, Dany was still gone and Adolfo had left to ¨run an errand¨. They always run errands here. That is my least favorite thing to hear. He never showed up that night! We kept contact with him and decided to do it the next morning, but we thought he was just playing around with us and wasn´t gonna want to do it. So this is what we did. Sunday morning we woke up at 4:30 and were outside of his house by 5:15 to make sure he wouldn´t escape from us! He woke up at 6 and actually got baptized! It was a miracle, to be honest. Super grateful for that. I didn´t go to the baptism because I was getting investigators for church, but everything turned out well!

That is about it for the week. Hope you all have a great thanksgiving this week! I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be in the service of the Lord, doing everything I can to help my beloved Nicas come unto Christ! I am grateful for the Savior and all He has done for me. I love being in His service!

Go Aggies. Beat BYU!

What Happened This Last Week?

Couldn´t tell ya... hahahah times go by so fast! This was another week full of... contacting and sweating. I am still trying to adjust to the heat after being in a nice weathered Jinotepe for 6 months. I smell really bad! We have been working incredibly hard and doing all we can to help our beloved Nicas progress towards the Gospel.

On Monday I got a new companion! His name is Elder Medrano. He is from Texas! He has a little over a year in the mish, and he is hilarious. Hahahahaha he did track at Texas Pan American on a scholly, so he has been telling me a little about how awesome being a college athlete is. Just hope everything works out! But yeah he is a super cool kid and we are workin hard. This last week I also signed the NLI and the scholarship agreement to play at Utah State. It is still forever away, but pretty exciting.

We have been spending a lot of time trying to find new investigators here in this area. Everyone has their own ¨Atonement Area¨ in the mission, and the area I am in right now has been known to be one of them. I feel like I am in my third! Hahahahah so Elder Medrano and I have spent basically the whole last week contacting and working with Less Actives to try and lift up this area! But it is tough, a la grande. There are a lot of people that don´t even want to listen to the Mormons here. So, my companion and I are starting to go with a little ¨Process of Elimination¨ contacting. Contact everyone to find the people that don´t want to receive the Gospel. At some point you have got to find someone positive! That was Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday I worked with some struggling sisters. That was a fun experience. Friday we had District Meeting. Elder Miculax is the new DL here in District Juigalpa, and he is throwing fire! He is really helping with the lifting up of the Zone. After that I worked with Elder Smith, elder Hanson´s son, in our area! I forgot to tell you that Elder Smith is from Bingham, and he is McKenna Smith´s cousin! Mom I think Mckenna´s mom is part of your dinner group or something? He is super cool, and fun to work with! We had a really cool experience with a guy that is super addicted to weed but really interested in changing and learning about the Gospel. So we will see what happens this week with this guy :)

Sunday President Russell came to the Branch that we are in. And it was Sister Russell´s birthday! We got to sing to her, that was fun. We hardly got any investigators to church, which was kinda embarrassing, but oh well we are repenting of the things that need to be repented of and working to fix things, so hopefully it all goes better this week. We should have 2 baptisms this week! Their names are Adolfo and Dany. Please pray for them :)

Love you all so much! Thanks for the support. Keep up the good work. Serve!

Chontaleno ya. (?)

Sorry for not writing last week. My son Elder Peterson and I had to go to Managua to do a couple things, and my new area is about 3 hours away! Elder Peterson did get the chance to briefly write his family last week, don't worry mom :) So, I had changes! Finally left the Zone of Jinotepe. It was difficult, but I really miss it. And I was changed to Juigalpa! Super hot, eastern side of Nicaragua.
Franklin from Jinotepe

So let's talk a little about the Zone that I am in. Juigalpa. As I said last week, my new ZL companion is Elder Hanson. He has done a great job, but the other leaders in this Zone were not doing a good job, so the Zone was a little dead when I got here. They had a bad month in October, and things were looking really bad for November. Therefore... we had some things to change! And we are in the process of doing so. We have changed the attitude, the way of working, respect for leaders, how to baptize, all that good stuff. As I heard one time a few months back from a Stake Leader here in Nicaragua, "the leader always determines the rhythm." So as leaders, Elder Hanson and I are trying to first off give the example, and then help others to follow it. We have seen that things are already changing! Because they are doing what they should be doing better, they are completing with their goals, and more baptisms are popping up out of nowhere! O sea, miracles :) we hope to keep this going to help turn this thing around! Our personal area isn't necessarily considered one to be "blessed." Third straight really tough area that I have been put in. I guess I just haven't learned what the Lord wants me to learn yet! We are working super hard to get this area moving, like really hard.

Alright sorry, with basically two weeks since writing, I am really confused as to what has been going on! So next week will better. On Tuesday Hanson and I had Leadership Conference at President's House. I love President and the opportunity that we had to learn from him. I will miss that guy. And the opportunity to see a bunch of my best friends! Naisbitt goes home one month from today. I am really gonna miss that guy. He is crazy haahah. On Friday we had Zone Meeting. We basically just motivated and exigird the missionaries. Funny story, the tie that mom sent me, Elder Hanson has the same one, so we went all twinny for a day! Wahoo!
I loved working with my American son Elder Peterson this last week! I love this work. Sorry for the bad update, next week will be better! But I am still good because the one I sent a few weeks ago was really long and good. I am so grateful to be a missionary for the Church! And to be here in Juigalpa! Go Jazz! This is our year!

Love you all. Keep up the good work. Next one's it.

He's alive!!

This is probably not worth your time, but thought you might want to know Sam is still alive.  How did moms do it in the good ole days?! I found the picture off his former ZL companion's blog. *;) winking
............

Hey, just wanted to quickly let you guys know that I am alive! Hahaha I haven't been able to write, because I was in Managua all day Monday with my new son! His name is Elder Peterson, from Morgan, Utah. First American son. I am in Juigalpa. East side of Nicaragua. My ZL companion is Elder Hanson. I have now been put with my 3 best mission friends as my companion. Naisbitt, Copeland and now Hanson. Other than that all is well. I will write you guys next week. Love you. Have a great week!

Monday, October 19, 2015

Happy Anniversary!

Go Aggies! That was surprising, but lots of fun! I wish I could've been there hahahah. I would imagine that BYU-Utah State will be pretty fun in November or whenever they play. So this week was another really quick week. Don't I always say that? Hahahah I guess this mission is just going by way too fast! And once again, can't really remember what happened. We'll see if I can. I need to pay more attention to detail, because as you know, time goes by very fast. I don't want to lose it.

Monday night we had a little Noche de Hogar (FHE) in the chapel with some of our super awesome investigators! We watched The Testaments, and it was great! I actually wasn't there because I went to do a baptism interview, but it was still really cool I think. We have got some really pilas investigators.

Tuesday I went down to Rivas! I am starting to get really sad, because my time in this Zone is almost up (maybe). This is the last week of the change, and next week there are changes! Easily the fastest change of my mission. But anyways, had the opportunity to go work with Elder Scheffler and get to know the possible baptisms for this month. Putting on the animation, puro smile :) hahahaha we got to know a lot of people and had a lot of success! I love working down there. I love the people down there. Keep in mind that I have been in this Zone for the entire year. I am no longer part of the Bountiful Central Stake. I am part of the Jinotepe Stake! And even though I want a new area, I kinda don't want this to end. Hey before I forget, I think today is the one year anniversary of me getting a massive rock chucked at my face. That's cool. Can't believe that it's already been a year since then. I also had a little poop accident that morning, just never told you guys hahahaha. Not because of getting jumped, just happened in the morning because I am in Nicaragua and that can happen at any moment!
One year ago today! Good times!!
Well I am just gonna talk about the most important part. My investigators! So we have two baptisms right now in the month, and we have the chance to baptize 4 this weekend. The record in this area for a month is 4 baptisms. But more importantly, they are awesome people, and they have been going through a lot of crap. Ana, Francis, Alfredo and Perla. Perla is golden. No problems there. She is super awesome. Alfredo is Ana's son, and Francis is the cousin of Ana. Ever since those 3 started going to church, they have been receiving a lot of persecution. Everyone hates the church here, don't know why hahahah. It's unreal. Francis has been really tough through it, because she has seen a bunch of miracles, Alfredo is 12 so he doesn't care, but Ana has been struggling a little. We have been working extremely hard, and praying super hard as well to get these people down, but it has been tough. And then today they called us and told us that they are getting kicked out of their house for doing what they are doing and for getting baptized. It was super tough to hear. Copeland and I went and visited them, and Francis said, "we are gonna go see if the government can give us just a little land so that we can build a house, even if it has to be made of plastic." In Spanish obviously, but super humble. That is all I ask of you. Please pray for these 4 amazing people. Ana, Alfredo, Francis and Perla.

Love you all so much. Keep up the good work!

Stress and Miracles!

These weeks go by so fast! A la grande! This week was the fastest of my mission. I'll tell ya'll why in a sec. And this has also been the fastest change that I have had in my mission here with Elder Copeland! Life is a lot more fun when you are baptizing! hahahah this week was really busy, so let's explain a little about it! First off mother, "animating" is going around pumping people up for their baptism, and in most cases convincing them. Because here, anything can happen in any given moment.

I'll get straight to the good stuff... we had two baptisms this last week! First one was with Fernanda on Wednesday. It was kind of a blessing, because she turned 9 on Tuesday.  Her mom is a member. She is super cool and super cute and it was a super fun baptism!

Thursday we had another Multi Zone Conference! Which for most missionaries means a super fun day learning and all that good stuff. However, for Zone Leaders that means lots of planning, teaching a workshop, stress and no sleep! So it was a pretty stressful week. We had to do the same pick-up route that I have been doing for 6 months, which meant waking up at 2 in the morning and not getting home til about 10 o'clock. It was a really long day. Elder Copeland and I taught a workshop about how to teach better. Which is weird... why would President assign a really bad teacher (me) to teach about how to become a better teacher? I just think he had a little mistake there ;) other than that the Multi Zone was great! President Russell spent about 2 hours talking about how to become consecrated missionaries, relating the 4th Missionary talk to our own mission! And he gave every missionary a copy of the 4th Missionary (thanks Cal)! It was a super long day but it turned out being pretty good.

Saturday we had another baptism! Andy... he is such a funny, cute kid. We reactivated his family and got him baptized. It was really cool! Saturday was super stressful though, full of baptisms falling and miracles then baptisms falling again all around the Zone. But it turned out to be a good weekend!

I just have one thing to ask of you all... pray for Ana, Alfredo, Francis and Perla. I will tell you why soon :) love you all so much! Go Aggies!

3rd General Conference

Playing with a turtle!

This last week was yet again, awesome but extremely fast! Like I said last week, Elder Copeland and I went through our second conference together.... so crazy how fast those six months have gone. Which scares me a little to know how fast the next six are gonna go, but not thinking about that hahah. So let's see what we did this last week!

On Tuesday I spent the whole day working with my companion Elder Velasquez, and we worked really hard! We spent the whole day contacting new people, and it was pretty successful. This Elder Velasquez is super funny and fun to work with. Elder Copeland went and worked with some sisters, and he did well!

Wednesday was a normal day of work, lots of fun.

Thursday I went down to Rivas to work in my old area with Elder Scheffler and his companion. We worked super hard and I helped them a lil in their area, because they were struggling. We had a lot of fun. It was also fun to work in my old area! I wasn't a huge fan of that area, but it was good to go back and relive some of the memories. Oh by the way, this last week, my first son Elder Castro hit a year in the mission? Crazy right? And my second son, Elder Arevalo, already has 9 months. And I have been in this same zone for his entire mission! Mucho tiempo jajaja. But anyways it was fun to work in my old area!

Friday I went to District meeting down in Rivas. Did some ¨animating¨, because we have a great opportunity to have a great month in October! In this Zone we have a lot of pressure and put really high goals. Because sometimes you gotta ¨expect perfection to get something similar.¨ Then I went back up to Jinotepe! There was a lot of new apartment stuff going on that I had to work with, which is yet another miracle from the Lord that we see all the time, something as simple as Him helping us find a new house for missionaries in an important time. Then we went out to work to prepare everyone for Conference.

Saturday was awesome! We had a ton of success! We brought a lot of investigators to conference, which is the most important thing. And the things I learned were awesome. Let's see. Elder Lawrence, how he talked about Progress. I feel like Dad was up there talking, that is one of his strengths. We need to find a way to progress every day, even if it is just a little bit. Elder Holland was kinda tough to listen too. It brought such a deep love and gratitude for my mother and all she has done for me. My number 1 fan. I love you Mom! We brought 13 investigators on Saturday, and finished with 18 in total! And a few of them loved it so much that they came back by themselves on Sunday (that is unheard of here.) Priesthood was great, partially because we didn't need to bring investigators hahaha. But I loved Elder Anderson's talk about Faith. Give Brother Joseph a break! Hahahah that definitely applies here. Have I ever told you how much we get yelled at and made fun of here? It's about every 5 minutes that we hear something about coffee and Joseph Smith. It is crazy. Really builds up someone's patience ahahaha. But yeah Priesthood was awesome! Sunday was great too. There were a bunch of people that showed up to the church to watch it, thank goodness. I really loved President Monson's talk, except for the fact that I basically didn't get to hear it because Copeland and I were tending a crying child of one of our investigators. At least she got to listen to the Prophet! I did get to see the end though (Copeland and I were in another room watching it in English), and when I saw him really struggle, it made me really sad. I love that guy with all of my heart, and I just want to see him one more time in person. Who knows if it will happen though. Listening to President Nelson was so cool. Ever since he came here, I have fallen in love with that guy. He has such an awesome spirit, and I have met him! I also loved Elder Christopherson´s talk about the importance of a church! It is very important, and people here don't understand that!

So all in all it was a great week. I am so grateful to be able to testify every single day that Jesus Christ has restored his Church through Prophets and Apostles. This Church is what will help guide us to Salvation. So let´s do our job! Pray this week for Andy and Fernanda, our two baptisms this week. And pray for Perla, Ana, Alfredo and Francis. They are super cool people that need prayers! Love you all so much!

A La Grande. Milagritos

Hello family and friends! This week once again went by incredibly fast. This is all going by way to fast. Here is a little report!

Tuesday we had Leadership Council again, and this was fun. Hahahahahah our Zone is doing ok, but the mission has not had a great month. President talked a lot about how we are doing well, but there is a need to do more! Our goal at the beginning of the year was 2060 baptisms (Army of Helaman). And if we got this goal, President is gonna take us to San Juan del Sur! It is a super cool tourist place down south in Nicaragua. Last year the mission baptized 1729. Right now we have about 1680, or somewhere around there. It's pretty fijo that we get 2060, so President decided to test us a little more. He put the monthly goals for each Zone in these last three months of the year, instead of the Zone Leaders putting it. The goals are gonna be difficult, but possible! In Jinotepe, we need to baptize 26 this month, with only three weeks to baptize! Should be a lot of fun :) and we put a new goal for the mission! 2300! President promised that if we get 2300 baptisms as a mission, he will give us all sick Mission Shirts down at San Juan del Sur. Creating the vision! It was also fun to see a lot of my really good friends at Leadership Council.

Wednesday and Thursday we worked really hard! And Thursday night we prepared a little for Zone Meeting, that we had on Friday!

Friday we got up early to prepare for Zone Meeting. It was looking all good! And then I got the text. One of the APs texted me and said that President was going to be there. Which means nerves up the wall hahahha. We talked about how the Zone was doing, obedience, and then a little more about how to work with members. I always think about how in this life, we really only ever have two options. Obedience, and disobedience. When we are obedient, we come closer to Christ. When we are disobedient in any way, shape or form, we fall away from Him, and unless we repent, we will never be able to return to His presence. It is that simple. Obedience is that important! So let's be Obedient with exactness, because in that way we can see the blessings of change in our life. And if not, then let's repent! Afterwards, President said it was excellent, one of the best he has ever seen (but doesn't he say that to everybody???) hahaha but it was all good! Then that afternoon, I got to go around and work a little with my dad Elder Collado. Yes he is still AP. That is a lot of time. We went around animating all the possibilities. It was awesome to work with him, and in the off time in the car, talking about some of the best times of my mission, down in Granada with him. We have so many memories!

Saturday we baptized Alejandra and Eyris! And even better, on Sunday they got confirmed. Even better! And everything went well in the Zone, Gracias a Dios. We finished with 20! Oh yeah and on Saturday we had to go help out some sisters to get a baptism done. What did we have to do? Distract a super drunk guy for about an hour because the sisters were scared of him. C'mon. Hahahah it was funny, but kind of a waste of time.

But the girls got baptized so todo bien!

I am super excited for my 3rd General Conference of the mission! Pray so that we can get enough investigators, because if we don't have enough then we can't go and watch! Love you all so much!
